Troubleshooting: Crashes, Mic, Connection, and Lobbies
Launch week co-op games usually fail in boring ways: one player cannot join, one mic does not work, one machine crashes, or everyone has different expectations about whether the demo is still playable.
Quick Fixes
Section titled “Quick Fixes”| Problem | What To Try |
|---|---|
| Demo will not install | The demo was taken down before launch. Install the full game after June 10 instead. |
| Friend cannot join | Confirm everyone is on the same app, restart Steam, and have the host recreate the lobby. |
| Mic does not work | Check Steam voice settings, in-game voice settings, and macOS/Windows input permissions. |
| Controller feels wrong | Test with keyboard/mouse once, then adjust Steam Input or community layouts. |
| Steam Deck text is hard to read | Use magnifier or external display for setup; avoid hosting if you cannot read lobby/task text. |
| Crashes shortly after launch | Verify game files, update GPU drivers, close overlays, and try a clean reboot before blaming the save. |
What To Include In A Bug Report
Section titled “What To Include In A Bug Report”Include platform, controller/keyboard, whether you were host or client, lobby size, what task was active, and what happened in the minute before the issue. “It crashed” is less useful than “client crashed when joining a 5-player lobby after loading into the house.”
